The program will give participants an intensive six-week "minds-on" and "hands-on" experience in a variety of science based subjects that include Analytical, Organic, Biochemistry, Biotechnology and Mathematics. The program will also include year-round services such as monthly tutorial, mentorship, and opportunities to participate in science related research seminars and the Department of Chemistry Annual Chemical Sciences Symposium.
The STEP goals are to:
I) Improve students' competencies in the chemical sciences and enhance teachers' skills in the laboratory
II) Nurture participants' interest in the chemical sciences and
III) Establish a permanent "bridge" in the chemical sciences between the Greensboro, NC high schools and NCAT.
